A few days ago, in the state of Veracruz, left wing politician Celestino Rivera Hernandez was caught in the act of sodomizing and raping a 12 year old boy that he had picked up on the street. Celestino is a “respected” pillar of his community, but he had done this before. No less than 5 [...]

senderodelpeje.com – a proof of no democracy in PRD

Posted By Per-Otto Lekare on July 13th, 2006

It is supposed that PRD (Partido de la Revolucion Democrática) is very much into democracy – as it’s letters state. The other day, I found a blog (that is very visited by the way), www.senderodelpeje.com. I tried to enter a comment there, but was greeted with the information that only team members were able to post blog entries or comments. According to the “who are we”-part of senderodelpeje.com, the blog moderators are in NO WAY affiliated to the PRD. They aren’t even members of the party and they aren’t for the party either… what a joke.

I wrote a polite mail asking as to why I couldn’t enter any questions or comments, but haven’t received any mail whatsoever explaining. This leads me to think the following:

1) Senderodelpeje.com IS part of PRD
2) The moderators ARE militants of PRD
3) They are NOT interested in anybody questioning their views or source of information, or even commenting them, unless they have control over the information.

The blog is littered with extremely biased and in no way proven propaganda. The biased part, I buy. I mean, it’s a blog for sympathisers of this guy. But the fact that there is no way for critics to even question the information makes it looks alot like communist era newspapers, where only one version is official, and other versions or questions are deleted. The new version of PRAVDA, I think. With every comment, the tone turns more and more violent. Some comments – obviously written by “team members”, call for confrontation and even violence.

With every moment that passes, these guys are frightening me. They DON’T want OR accept criticism. They DRAW clear parallells to Hugo Chavez and Venezuela, where the “people” have the power. That is – the people affiliated to the ruling party. They don’t care the least bit about whoever has put them in the power (voters), but they just like the power… and they are willing to take to arms to – as they say – defend democracy. It’s a shame that somebody can use the word democracy at the same time as calling to arms…. Really scary.

Update: I sent them another email today, asking them for some kind of explanation as to why they won’t let anybody write any comments in their blog. If they don’t answer, I think it shows exactly what kind of people they are… I’ll keep you posted.

    Hi!

My name is Enrique and I a Mexican citizen living is Amsterdam for quite some time now.

In will tryto explain your concern about the blog you mentioned. I feel the situation in Mexico is unique now. I think that in the case you are Mexican you already know what is going on in Mexico. Really, I don’t think that your comment will make Mexico more or less democratic in general…so keep to your self your questioning…if you want to know about the inside situation in Mexico, then ask and get the info you need to build up by yorself your own criteria….that is what the senderodelpeje did already. You might do the same…or rather really stop bodering altogether.

There was an horrendous electoral fraude in Mexico. If you did know that…then, please bother about the lack of democracy in your country, not in Mexico.

    have a nice day!

    Enrique

    Hi there!

A couple of issues come to mind with your post. You feel that my comments don’t alter or change anything. So I should shut up? Well, that’s refreshing. And democratic.

I write my blog with information I have gathered. Just like “senderodelpeje”. I try to be more objective and let people – like you – post comments. I will not erase any comments on this blog (save for very offensive and insulting comments), but will try to answer all. I think that is part of the democracy, the ability to read and answer comments from people that don’t think like you.

As for the “horrenduous fraud”, all I want is to see some proof. Where did the fraud take place? In what exactly does the fraud consist? PRD and AMLO have not been sure either, saying it was a computer fraud, then saying it was a “manual” fraud, etc. I think that the fact that AMLO didn’t win the elections, isn’t proof enough… All the PRD have shown on TV and in the news have been mistakes or fakes. It’s not very easy to register ballot counts that aren’t truthful when representatives of all political parties sign the ballot counts. To go ahead and say that the representatives of the PRD were bought is taking it a bit too far. AMLO has – for all his life – complained about the complots against him. And he is doing it again.

I didn’t get the last comment, referring to “my country” vs Mexico… Mexico is my country. And I am deeply concerned with the political situation in this country.
