In the wake of the horrible massacre at Virginia Tech, where 33 (at least) people died, isn’t it time to look at the ridiculous NRA (National Rifle Association) and the Republican party insisting on everyone’s right to bear arms?
The White House defended the right to bear arms at a press briefing Monday.
“As far as policy, the president believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed,” said Dana Perino, a spokesperson for President George W. Bush.
“And certainly bringing a gun into a school dormitory and shooting … obviously that would be against the law and something that someone should be held accountable for,” Perino added.
Perfect. I think it’s good they are holding the moron accountable for the shootings – Cho Seung-Hui. Too bad he blew his brains out. Anyway, it’s good the government will hold all trespassers of law “accountable” for the crimes they commit. I think the victims’ parents are equally happy about that as well.
I am completely against the loose idea that prevention would help in this case. Preventing that people have ready access to guns. How could that help in any way? - note sarcasm
COME ON!!!! One of the first “suspects” – at least on the Internet, was Wayne Chiang. He studies at VT, loves guns, and has had some love trouble recently. In an interview with American ABC, Chiang said: “Right now pretty much the internet thinks it is me . . . I am just interested in trying to clear my name. “It was five for five. I was Asian, I lived in (the dorm), I go to V Tech, I recently broke up with my girlfriend and I collect guns.” Chiang believes that guns should be allowed on the Virginia Tech campus. “I am a firm believer that if Virginia Tech students were allowed to conceal carry, this situation could have ended sooner.”
MAN…. this guy should be expelled… “if VT students were allowed to carry weapons…” does this idiot have a brain? Kill your teacher when he gives you bad grades. Kill a rival for the muffins in the cafeteria. JEEEZ.
Here some facts about “The World’s Greatest Country”, loose weapon restrictions and the effect on it’s population:
- 8 children a day die in murders, suicides and accidents involving guns
- since John F. Kennedy was assinated more Americans have died from gunshot wounds at home than died in all the wars of the 20th century
- Osama bin Laden would need at least nine “twin towers”-like attacks each year to equal what Americans do to themselves every year with guns.
- Murder rates in LA, NY and Chigago were approaching the hightest in the world (30 per 100,000) until moves were made in late 20th century to restrict access to guns to teenagers. (The NRA wants these moves reversed)
If Osama bin Laden had had more sense, instead of launching a terrorist attack, he would simply have provided financial backing to the NRA. Not to mention that the within the US population you can find the greatest number of drug addicts in the world (not to say all US citizens are drug addicts, which they aren’t). Just give them unlimited access to guns and drugs, and they will take care of exterminating themselves…
